 Dark Horse Triathlon Athlete Results

First and foremost, the results of our athletes are from the hard work and consistency of the athlete, and communication with their coach. In each of the past 11 years, we have had at least one athlete qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. In '13, '14,'15, '17 & '18 we had three athletes racing there. in 2016 and 2019 we had 6 & 7 athletes in Kona, respectively. In 2022, we will have a minimum of 7 athletes in Kona. In '13,  '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '20, and '21, we have had athletes qualify for world championship races in distances from sprint to Ironman distance.

We've had representation at USAT AG National Champs, Xterra World Champs, ITU Long Course Duathlon World Champs, Ironman 70.3 World Champs and Ironman World Champs. In 2015 alone, roughly half of our athletes who have competed in Ironman and/or Ironman 70.3 events have finished on the podium, including two at the Ironman World Championship in Kona.  When we add in other branded events and distances, that percentage nears 75%....and the trend continues well into 2021 and beyond. If you want to get fast and set new PRs, you've come to the right place!

The point is our athletes get fast....here are some of their thoughts:

---

"It's been great to see that between you, Joel Filliol (my former coach) and Brett Sutton (who's camp I'm attending), the training is so similar. More similar between you and Brett than you and Joel...So it's been really encouraging to hear that while it seems like the large majority of triathlon coaches do their own thing, your method of training is very consistent to the world's best."

---

"I've been coached by Steve for over a year now. My 2013 season exceeded my most optimistic expectations. I PR'ed, by a lot, at every distance and qualified for Team USA for the 2014 World AG Championships in Edmonton. Steve doesn't have any shortcuts for you but will provide you with the workouts and balance for you to exceed your goals if you are willing to put in the work. Hard to imagine that anyone could have put together a program to get more out of me than Steve has. I've used other coaches and training plans but nothing compares to the quality of Steve's coaching"

---

"After working with Steve for three years, I can say for certain that I have become a better athlete in all three discilpines in triathlon. With Steve's coaching, I have been able to achieve one of my biggest dreams of qualifying for Kona! If anyone wants to take their game to the next level,I highly recommend Coach Steve."

---

"I never thought I'd be able to do anything like this...to be in the top 10% of my AG in IM and on the cusp of running a BQ qualifying time is simply mind-blowing to me.  So...thanks.  Thanks for helping me realize something like this: I couldn't have done it without you."

---

"I initially didn't want to write this because my competition might read it and hire Steve to coach them. Steve IS my secret weapon. Since hiring Steve, I have completed 3 Ironmans and won my age group and PR'd in all of them, Kona qualified in all of them, and raced to a top 10 finish in Kona. Steve is super responsive and attentive to individual athlete needs.  As an elite athlete himself, he has personally tried and tested training and racing protocols and my race outcomes show how greatly I benefit from his extensive knowledge and experience.  His data-based coaching continues to exceed my expectations and I know that working with Steve I will maximize my athletic potential and stay fresh and happy in my training and racing for years to come."

---

"My 70.3 World Championship race kicks off in just under 36 hours. I'm laying here on the couch wondering how this ever happened. It's been a long, challenging journey from the couch to what will be one of the most rewarding accomplishments in recent years. Thanks, Steve."

---

"I certainly appreciate the "art" side of your coaching - building and tapering and coasting that fitness through a pretty crazy season. I don't really know how you did that. I raced more than I have in any one season before, over more months...making it through with such consistent results is a major victory."
